Meet Maria and her boys; Angel 14, Juan Diego 11, Jose Gabriel 8 and Santiago 8 Months. In November 2024, a team from Canada will be helping Maria and her family build a small home, providing a safe place to call their own, for the first time.
We are working with our Partner Mujeres Nuevo Comienzo A.C.
MNC’s mission is to provide safe homes and shelter for abused, abandoned and battered women and their children with the desire to see them experience healing, discover their value, and cultivate confidence.
With your support, this chance at a new life, will become a reality.
Thank you for your donations.
We believe every human being is hardwired with a desire to serve but they just don’t know how. We at Forgotten People have created the venue with the only skills required are willing hands and a willing heart. The joy on the faces of children seeing their new school or a family collecting the keys to their own home can only be matched by those of the build team. It’s a week of hard work but every day we go to bed with the feeling of great satisfaction knowing we are making a difference. Mexico is a country rich with life and community and we have the distinct opportunity to partner with them to see their communities rise from poverty and flourish to a new life and a new future.
Upcoming trip - November 2-10, 2024! - Find out more!
Housing: 75% of the migrant workers have no electricity, running water, and use a make-shift outhouse.
These houses are built on land owned by the families we build for. It provides a refuge and security for families who previously lived in plastic or cardboard or a 8x9 concrete squares. It gives them hope finally having a place to call their own. We build the house and they make it home.
Classrooms: The current schools in the region struggle to accommodate the children of these migrant families and have limited space and resources. We work with existing schools and have the blessing of governing bodies for the building of new classrooms. Opportunities for school builds are offered 1 to 2 times a year.
Mujeres Nuevo Comienzo women's shelter, sits in the dessert in the outskirts of the community where women are
They opened their doors in 2011 after recognizing the lack of available resources, in the rural Baja California Mexico, for those who had been trafficked. Almost a decade after the program's opening, MNC continues to bring hope to vulnerable women and children.
Water for families in many communities in Vicente
Guerrero Baja Mexico is never taken for granted.
Women arriving home early into the evening do not have the
luxury of just turning on the tap to meet daily needs. In the area we are serving, water trucks deliver water once a week at a cost that often uses up a big portion of earnings.
Someone once said, “He who gives a cup of water in my
name shall not lose their reward”.
Migrant workers have come over 2000 miles for a “promised land” of homes and jobs. Understanding the struggles of migrant workers is a big part of our experience in the Baja Peninsula. On our trips, we take a day to explore the cucumber, strawberry and raspberry fields and meet some of the workers. Many of us get our own food from these locations delivered to our supermarkets.
Employment: A steady job means approx. $10/day for a 10 hour day.
Food Aid: There are approximately 1,947 children in the region and 1,162 of them suffer from some level of malnutrition.
With your help they can get the resources they need to lift their families out of poverty.
